Recognizing Leadership Excellence
The Emerging Leader Award celebrates individuals who are demonstrating leadership growth, initiative, and meaningful impact within the Atlantic Credit Union system. This award recognizes emerging leaders who are stepping forward, contributing beyond their role, and aligning their leadership with co‑operative values.
In addition to recognizing achievement, the award supports continued leadership development through post‑secondary co‑operative and leadership education.
Purpose of the Award

Recognize leadership potential and growth at early and mid‑career stages.

Celebrate initiative, collaboration, and positive impact across the system.
3.
Encourage continued investment in leadership development.
4.
Inspire other emerging leaders through shared success stories.
Who Can Be Nominated
To be eligible, nominees must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be a member of ACCEL (Atlantic Canada’s Collective for Emerging Leaders)
- Individuals may apply for ACCEL membership in order to be eligible
- Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience within the Credit Union system
- Demonstrate leadership impact and growth (formal or informal leadership)
- Have not previously received the Emerging Leader Award
Self‑nominations are welcome.
Nomination Package Requirements
Comprehensive Guide to Your Nomination
To successfully nominate an emerging leader, ensure your package includes three key elements:
1. Letter of Support

A letter from a senior leader at your Credit Union describing how the nominee demonstrates exceptional leadership, has grown professionally, and has made a meaningful impact within the organization and beyond.
2. Current Resume
3. Leadership Narrative (Flexible Format)
Nominees are encouraged to share their leadership story in the format that best represents them. Accepted formats include:
- Video submission
- Presentation or visual storytelling format
Submission focus:
- Leadership initiatives and impact from the past 24 months
- Demonstrated initiative, influence, and collaboration
- Alignment with co‑operative values and future leadership potential
Submission Process Overview
Step 1
Prepare your nomination package, including:

- Letter of support from a manager or senior leader
- Current resume
- Leadership Story (essay, video, or presentation)

Log in to your existing Do Some Good account or create a new account if you don’t already have one. Don’t worry—creating an account is quick and completely free.
Step 4
Complete the application form, upload your supporting documents, and submit your nomination before the deadline.
Deadline: All nominations must be received by August 16th, 2026.
Selection Process Overview
Nominations will be reviewed by a selection committee using a standardized evaluation framework that considers:

Collaboration and commitment to co‑operative values

Potential for continued leadership and future impact
One recipient will be selected based on their overall contribution and alignment with the award criteria.
Award & Recognition
The Emerging Leader Award recipient will receive:
$5,000 toward tuition for:
-
- The Canada DE Program, or
- Another co‑operative or leadership education program through Saint Mary’s University
Recipients wishing to attend a program at a different accredited Canadian university may submit an alternate proposal for consideration
